FAQ
- Can I edit the DVDs that you produce?
- How do I view a Video CD (VCD) on my PC?
- Which is better, VCD or DVD?
If you are looking to edit your home movies, your best bet
is to go to a digital tape format such as miniDV. The MPEG2 files on a DVD (not just ones that we
produce) can only be edited by certain video editing software such as
Adobe Premiere Pro
or Pinnacle studio
which contain the DVD decoder as part of the editing software.
If you have Adobe Premiere Pro or
Pinnacle studio
and wish to edit the videos on the DVD you can start by looking at the directory on the DVD called "VIDEO_TS". In
that directory you will find all the video files that make your DVD. The files have a "VOB" extention
and start with "VTS" in the file name. To edit the video files you will need to:
- Copy the "VTS*.VOB" files to your local Hard Disk
- Rename the "VTS*.VOB" files on your local Hard Disk to "VTS*.MPG"
- Use an editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the video files
- Create a DVD of your edited video using your editing software

Video CDs (VCD) are designed to be played on a VCD capable
DVD player. To view the video on your PC you will need to:
- Insert the CD-R in CD tray
- Launch "Windows Media Player" (or any other MPEG-1 player you have installed on your
PC or MAC) (go to Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Windows Media Player - Note depending
on the version of Windows installed on your PC your copy of "Windows Media Player" might be installed in a different location)
- Select a file to play (File/Open and go to your CD Drive).
- Click on the "MPEGAV" directory
- Select "MUSIC01.DAT" as the file you want to play
- The movie will now play
You can also copy the "MUSIC01.DAT" file to you local hard disk and rename it with an ".MPG"
file extention so that it would be recognized by your computer as an MPEG-1 file and launched when you click on it.

VCD and DVD produce different quality pictures and should be considered based on your needs.
Typically you would use a VCD if you:
- Wish to incorporate the video clip on a web site
- Want to play the video on your PC and only have a CD drive
- Want to play a Video on a TV and the original video was on a VHS tape (we recommend a DVD in this case if you have a DVD player)
Typically you would use a DVD if you:
- Wish to produced the highest quality video for playback on your TV or PC
- Want to play the video on your PC and have a DVD drive
- Wish to edit the video at a later date
